About the Event

Handelsblatt's Jahrestagung Health 2026 takes place November 3 and 4 at the Steigenberger Hotel am Kanzleramt in Berlin. The conference is organized by Handelsblatt together with Euroforum, and the site frames this year's edition around the worsening financial position of Germany's statutory health insurance system and the narrowing room for structural reform as policymakers intervene on prices, services and system structures.

Audience and Attendees

The programme is aimed at people who don't just work in the system but want to help develop it further, and past editions have drawn speakers such as gematik CEO Florian Fuhrmann, BfArM President Karl Broich, and Takeda Oncology's Philipp Pauli. Early-bird in-person tickets for consulting firms are priced at EUR 2,700 from August 10, rising to EUR 2,900 from September 20, 2026.

Programme Structure

The two-day agenda is organized around daily themes: Day 1 covers Die neue Ökonomie der Gesundheit (The new economics of health) and Day 2 covers Zukunft der Steuerung (The future of governance). The programme opens with a live editorial from the Handelsblatt and Tagesspiegel Background health desks, followed by an interview and a discussion round on who finances the statutory health insurance funding gap, and includes interactive live audience votes for boldest idea, immediately actionable and most disruptive thought.

Main Topics

The 2026 agenda centers on the financial pressure facing statutory health insurance, prevention as a structural response to rising costs and demographic shifts, digital innovations, new care models, and the strategies of the sector's key players.

Closing Session

The conference runs through its final day, November 4, 2026, in Berlin.
