About the Event

IJCAI-ECAI 2026, the 35th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, runs in Bremen, Germany, from August 15 to 21, 2026, held jointly with the European Artificial Intelligence Association. Workshops and tutorials fill the first three days, August 15 through 17, and the main technical programme runs August 18 through 21. Several other AI events cluster around it: KI2026 runs just before it in Bremen from August 11 to 14, ACM CUI 2026 runs July 21 to 24, ICCBR-26 runs August 13 to 16, an AI Emmy Networking Day and an EBiM Open Day in Hamburg both fall on August 17, and a Cavecore PhD School follows from August 24 to 28.

Audience & Attendees

IJCAI-ECAI 2026 draws the international AI research community, and the invited talk lineup includes several award lectures: Nick Jennings delivers the IJCAI Research Excellence Award talk, David C. Parkes gives the John McCarthy Award lecture, and Jiajun Wu gives the Computers and Thought Award lecture. Additional keynotes come from Barbara Plank, Doina Precup, Jan Peters, Luciano Serafini, and Tinne Tuytelaars.

The Opening Reception is held on August 17. The main programme begins August 18 with Nick Jennings's invited talk at 10:00 and Luciano Serafini's keynote on neuro-symbolic AI at 14:00, alongside a Diversity and Inclusion Lunch. August 19 opens with Barbara Plank's keynote at 9:00 and David Parkes's award lecture at 14:00, plus the conference banquet and Industry Day. August 20 features Tinne Tuytelaars's keynote at 9:00 and Jiajun Wu's award lecture at 14:00, along with a Student Reception. The programme closes August 21 with Jan Peters's keynote at 9:00 on robot reinforcement learning and Doina Precup's keynote at 14:00 on reinforcement learning.

Main Topics

The conference runs five special tracks: Human-Centered AI, AI for Social Good, AI4Tech (AI enabling critical technologies), AI and Health, and AI and Robotics. The invited talks range across neuro-symbolic AI and logic tensor networks, human disagreement and ground truth in NLP, visual representation learning, inductive biases in robot reinforcement learning, and the shift from individual AI agents to societies of interacting agents.

Closing Session

The programme's final scheduled session is Doina Precup's keynote on reinforcement learning, on Friday, August 21, from 14:00 to 15:00.
