About the Event

KI2026, the 49th German Conference on Artificial Intelligence, takes place in Bremen, Germany, from August 11 to 14, 2026, organized in cooperation with the Fachbereich Künstliche Intelligenz of the Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI-SIG AI). The conference falls the week before IJCAI 2026, which also convenes in Bremen, and the main technical sessions are held at the DFKI Robotics Innovation Center.

Audience & Attendees

The conference draws academic and industrial researchers working across all areas of AI. Four keynote speakers are confirmed: Lea Schönherr, Randy Goebel, Michael Spranger, and Steven Schockaert. Registration fees run from €300 for GI-member students registering by the early-bird deadline to €640 for non-members registering from June 16, 2026 onward, and cover the main conference, workshops, tutorials, the doctoral consortium, and social events.

Programme Structure

Workshops and tutorials run all day on August 11 and through the morning of August 12. The main conference opens on August 12 at 13:00 with a keynote from Randy Goebel, followed by technical sessions, a city tour, and a conference dinner that evening. August 13 continues with a keynote from Lea Schönherr in the morning, more technical sessions, an Industry Day event at the historic Schütting building featuring a keynote from Michael Spranger, and an evening social event with a poster session aboard a boat on the river Weser. The conference concludes August 14 with a keynote from Steven Schockaert in the morning and a final block of technical sessions in the afternoon.

Main Topics

The workshop programme includes ExTraSafe, focused on explainability, transparency and safety; AI4SE, on applying AI to software engineering; and FGWM, a knowledge management workshop. A planned Public Interest AI workshop was cancelled. The Industry Day segment focuses on applying AI to industrial processes and business operations.

Closing Session

The main conference closing runs from 16:00 to 16:15 on Friday, August 14, right after Steven Schockaert's keynote and the last technical session block.
