The Smart Country Convention 2026 (#SCCON26) is the leading European event for digital government and public sector transformation, held from 13 to 15 October 2026 at Messe Berlin in Germany. Co-organised by Bitkom, Germany's digital industry association, and Messe Berlin, and held under the patronage of the Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and State Modernisation, the event brings together leading voices from public administration, politics, business, academia, and civil society for three days of conference sessions, an expo, workshops, guided tours, networking, and awards. The 2026 edition runs under the tagline "City. Country. Tech," capturing the event's scope across urban smart city solutions, national digital government strategy, and the technology that underpins both. The SCCON App and event platform support attendee networking and agenda planning throughout the three days.
The event draws a uniquely cross-sectoral audience from across the digital government ecosystem. Public sector attendees include decision-makers from federal, state, and municipal administrations, digital transformation leads, IT managers from government agencies, and elected officials. The SCCON Specials programme includes the Career Day for students and young professionals exploring careers in digital government, and the annual awards ceremony recognising outstanding achievements in public sector digitalisation. The agenda spans the full breadth of digital transformation in government, public administration, cities, and regions. The Smart Country Convention 2026 concludes on 15 October at Messe Berlin, bringing three days of digital government content, technology discovery, and cross-sector networking to a close. The annual event reinforces Berlin's role as the capital of Germany's digital public sector transformation agenda and provides the community with its most important annual gathering point for advancing the digital state.
