Best of LinkedIn: MarTech Insights CW 32/ 33
Agentic infrastructure moved from pilot to general availability across the largest platform vendors this period, with Salesforce, Adobe, and a wave of smaller vendors all shipping production MCP servers rather than demos. At the same time, the customer data platform category kept losing ground to the data warehouse, marketing operations teams absorbed more execution work through AI while governance questions multiplied behind them, and a major OAuth token breach at a competitive intelligence vendor showed what happens when that governance gap goes unaddressed. Industry judges reviewing this year's award submissions converged on the same verdict from two separate panels: most organizations can describe AI readiness, but few can show AI in production at volume.

Agentic AI and MCP Infrastructure

  • Salesforce moved its Model Context Protocol servers to general availability alongside a Data 360 MCP Server and an Agentforce MCP client, positioning Agentforce as the host system that authenticates and governs agent access to company data through its existing Trust Layer
  • Adobe rolled out MCP servers for GenStudio for Performance Marketing and for Marketo Engage, letting marketers diagnose underperforming ad creative or query customer records directly from Claude or ChatGPT instead of navigating the platform interface
  • Clay added an MCP interface, a command line interface, and a public API on top of its existing table based workflow, extending prospecting and account research access beyond spreadsheet style table building
  • Adobe Workfront AI Collaborators reached general availability, routing agents built on Microsoft Copilot Studio, Claude, and Writer into a shared system of record with human review built into the workflow before anything ships
  • Arkose Labs rebuilt its own marketing website on Anthropic's Claude Code and Webflow's MCP integration, migrating a decade of content in roughly three and a half weeks while preserving SEO, then shipping a full product launch in half a day the following week
  • Databox introduced an AI Analyst that generates a report, deck, or dashboard directly from a chat prompt, pulling from a team's existing connected data sources instead of requiring a fresh report build each time one is needed

Customer Data Platforms and the Data Cloud Shift

  • Databricks introduced CustomerLake, positioned as an agentic CDP, reinforcing a broader move of customer data platform functionality into the data warehouse layer
  • Salesforce renamed Data Cloud to Headless 360, completing a repositioning from a standalone CDP product into infrastructure that leaves data resident in Databricks, Snowflake, or BigQuery and accesses it through zero copy
  • Uniphore launched Uniphore Marketing AI, arguing the CDP era is over in favor of custom small language models and a proprietary identity resolution layer that let marketers simulate campaign outcomes before launch
  • Adobe Experience Platform and Journey Optimizer implementations are being pushed to design batch segmentation schedules around activation windows rather than data convenience, as profile volumes scale toward 25 million records per job
  • Identity data pricing that expires anonymous profiles after 90 days was flagged as a mismatch for long consideration cycle sectors such as travel, automotive, and wealth management, where the highest value customers take the longest to convert

Marketing Operations and the RevOps Discipline

  • Marketing operations leaders are increasingly being relabeled GTM Engineers or Marketing Engineers, a title shift tied to marketing operations professionals taking on GTM stack ownership that used to sit across separate departments
  • Revenue operations teams are being urged to treat data modeling as an organizational decision before a technical one, since marketing automation platforms, CRMs, billing systems, and product databases each model customer reality differently and cannot simply be joined inside a warehouse and called complete
  • Content output gains are being reported without matching headcount growth, including one team that tripled content production on a flat budget while automating lead routing and call transcript analysis
  • Several posts warned against repeating the SaaS sprawl mistake with AI agents, cautioning against stacking dozens of single purpose agents that each carry separate memory, dashboards, and integrations that do not talk to one another
  • Campaign operations is being reframed around risk prevention before execution, since a misapplied segmentation exclusion or ambiguous audience criteria can invalidate a campaign before a single email is coded
  • Google is adding AI directly inside GA4 reporting, aiming to shift analyst time from retrieving data through nested reports toward interpreting what the data already shows

CRM, Loyalty, and Retention Technology

  • CRM hiring is shifting toward single, highly capable individual contributors who can set lifecycle strategy and also build the automations themselves, replacing layered CRM teams as AI absorbs more of the execution work
  • TRIFFT integrated its loyalty engine with Klaviyo's Composer, streaming point of sale and app loyalty events into personalized SMS and email triggers within milliseconds rather than on a batch cycle
  • An IMC CRM Audit Tool went live on the HubSpot App Marketplace, scanning a connected HubSpot portal in under a minute to surface roughly twenty five data quality issues with links directly to the records that need fixing
  • Automotive marketing automation is expanding beyond email and SMS into WhatsApp conversational flows, letting dealership systems complete service bookings and recall responses inside a single conversation instead of redirecting to a website
  • One widely discussed post argued that platforms such as Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Braze, Ometria, Dotdigital, and Bloomreach are marketing automation platforms rather than CRM systems, even though each can support a CRM strategy
  • A real world service failure illustrated the limits of current architecture: an insurer's marketing platform sent a payment decline notice three days after the payment had already been corrected, showing that context freshness matters as much as message speed

Platform Strategy, Governance, and Security

  • A widely shared breakdown of a breach at a competitive intelligence vendor traced the intrusion to a long dormant API credential from an abandoned integration prototype, used to harvest OAuth tokens across at least a dozen connected companies with integrations into Salesforce, HubSpot, and Slack, prompting one affected company to file an SEC disclosure
  • The incident was compared to a prior OAuth token breach from August 2025 that affected more than 700 Salesforce environments, framing both as symptoms of ungoverned third party app permissions sitting inside CRM systems
  • Commentary on a major email service provider's product strategy challenges was used to argue that martech vendors expanding scope in pursuit of an all in one platform often dilute the one or two capabilities that made them competitive in the first place
  • A retail CIO's question about relying on a single commerce platform's built in agentic layer surfaced the limits of protocol compatibility with UCP and ACP, since no single platform natively holds all the product, pricing, and loyalty data an agent needs to answer a shopper's question
  • The "platform tax" concept was extended to argue that AI is increasing the organizational cost of absorbing new martech tools faster than teams can operationalize them, even as license costs hold flat or fall
  • The vendor landscape is being described as splitting into a "hypertail" of AI generated micro tools built in days rather than months, raising new governance questions around shadow IT

Industry Recognition and Community Events

  • Judges for the 2026 Association of National Advertisers MarTech Mastery Awards reported that few entrants could show AI running in production at volume, with most instead describing themselves as having AI ready foundations
  • ADWEEK's 2026 Tech Stack Awards judging surfaced a similar gap between organizations that had added AI and products that were demonstrably moving revenue
  • A Live MarTech MCP Spotlight is scheduled for September 10, where AI and martech products including Amplitude, Lovable, MoEngage, CaliberMind, GrowthLoop, and Docket will pitch shark tank style before a panel of judges
  • The MarTech Conference is hosting a September 2 panel on acting despite imperfect customer data, alongside a separate September session on closing the communication gap between content and data teams
  • Research from Anteriad surveying more than 630 B2B marketers found a persistent gap between how confident teams say they are in their data and how that data actually performs when tested in the field
